Elton Community centre is changing its Constitution to a CIO (Charitable Incorporated organisation).

This is more modern open and helpful in the way the centre is run. We need
members of the community to join the centre as members. It is free and
you don't have to give any time, the only commitment is to take interest
in the centre and Vote at AGMs (to appoint trustees to run the centre)
or at Extraordinary meetings if needed.

The objectives of Elton community centre (the reason the centre exists, and as such the way it should be run) are.

The objects of the CIO are to further or benefit the residents of the
village and civil parish of Elton, Cheshire and the neighbourhood, without
distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or
other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local
authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance
education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for
recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the
conditions of life for the residents.

• Anyone in the village over the age of 16 can join the CIO as a member with no

obligation to Volunteer or needing to become a trustee.

• You can volunteer or help the centre without living in the village and don't need to be a member or a trustee to volunteer.
• An associate member of the CIO is someone who wants to be a member but

does not live in the village, but associate members cannot vote.

• Members receive updates regarding the centre although we publish this on the

website, in the way of news and copies of the minutes of meetings.

• members will be able to vote in person, by email or by proxy (someone voting on the members behalf)

The attached document is the full copy of the CIO (ECC CIO document PDF
document) and the rules within it that mainly apply in detail to the
Trustees and the way the centre is run.

To Join as a CIO member. Pop into the centre and complete a CIO member form. We will have printed forms to compete from Monday 11th January at the latest in the centre. Complete a attached CIO form and return in PDF or photo format. It is
ok to authorise by email rather than physically sign the form, emailing
the form to admin@eltoncommunitycentre.co.uk. only.

• Print a form and post once completed through the Community centre letter box.

Our charity number is currently 520048 however this will change as a result
of changing to a CIO charity from the existing Charity status.

The AGM is planned for 23rd February at 7pm at Elton Community centre. To vote in the 2021 AGM you will need to have returned your completed form by 22rd January 2021.
